INTRODUCTION:
This movie took me about TWO months of dedicated scrounging around the Internet to find.
And with no regrets.
Based on the book Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon, the original King and I was a fabulously successful Broadway Musical which ran for over 1200 performances! The movie by the same name proved equally successful.
The King and I was probably made around the time when movies had just begun to be made in colour. And the Director had utilised this new-found technology to the fullest; the costumes and movie sets are just bursting with colour!
Deborrah Kerr and Yul Brynner are at their exotic best in this movie. Add to this a beautiful soundtrack and music by none other than Rogers and Hammerstein (of the Sound of Music fame), and you have a movie that is simply fascinating to watch!
